What you heard of NaNoWriMo? If you haven’t then I am not surprised. Apparently it has been going on for over 10 years now but not a lot of people even knew about it. Myself included! Now that I know about it, I feel like my high school teachers failed me. Seems like something they should be doing in every school for English class at some point.
What is it you ask? Well that is pretty simple. It is a writing contest to write a whole novel in the month of November. The only requirements are that it has to be fiction, has to be at least 50,000 works, and can’t be the same word 50,000 times.
Now I am betting that since I mentioned that it is a contest, you are wondering what the winner gets. The winner gets the satisfaction of creating a novel in a month… Yep that is about it. You can get a free copy of your book at the end if you win too. Every year they get lots of winners and that is the whole point. It is just proving to yourself and/or friends that you can do it.
